What does People & Planet and hip-hop have in common?

MCs!

Ok, I know it’s a tenuous link, but they really do!

But instead of Microphone Commanders People & Planet has the Management Committee (MC); a group of young people elected by other students to make sure the network is being run your best interests. Members meet a minimum of 4 times a year not to rap battle but to approve the accounts and annual budgets, work on staff plans, ensure the office is working on the best projects to support your campaigning and ensure People & Planet is fulfilling its aims.

But until recently the MC has had little sixth form/college student  representation, leaving half the network without a voice. However this all changed last year with the network almost unanimously voting that the MC should always have at least one sixth form or college member.

People & Planet is student run and prides itself upon its network democracy but needs you to get involved! Any students in the network can nominate themselves to the Management Committee with members being elected to serve 2 year terms through an online voting system the week following Forum 10.

We would especially like to encourage sixth form and college students to nominate themselves so we can become more representative as an organisation.

Sixth form and college students can nominate themselves if they are currently studying, on a gap year or out of education with a place to study in the next year.

So if you would like a deeper involvement in People & Planet and think you would be a great representative for sixth form and college students why not nominate yourself? Go on
