Balancing your time campaigning with your time spent studying can sometimes be tricky. As a member of the London South Bank University P&P group, I am finding that juggling my time between People & Planet and my study is more difficult this year as I am on placement. Since early July a man has been occupying part of our university’s estate, which has been unused for several years. Though he says he did not start out with the intention of doing so, he has been occupying the building since that time and conducting a campaign against what he sees as the injustice of leaving the buildings empty while there is shortage of social housing in London.

Liberation camp

Climate CampThe Camp for Climate Action describes itself as ‘a fast-growing grassroots movement of diverse people taking action on climate change’. This year’s Camp in Blackheath was the first I attended. I have written the following article to give a personal and hopefully interesting account of the four goals of the camp: to demonstrate sustainable living, to provide and share education on the myriad issues regarding climate change, to take action protecting and shaping the future of the planet and to build this movement across communities and the world itself.
