This week signals the sad and true end of my gap year! I have managed not to fly anywhere, and to resist the temptations of sunnier climes and different cultures (it’s been difficult), so instead I moved to London, and did everything I could to learn about the political system I am constantly trying to effect. The Politics of J.M. Coetzee

coetzee I don’t know about you, but it seems to me that our society has a ridiculously narrow concept of politics. We tend to talk as if ‘the political’ is what happens only in officially sanctioned avenues of political advocacy: elections, what goes on at Westminster or in Brussels, the to and fro of diplomacy within intergovernmental organizations etc.
